60-minute webinar with Clinical Psychologists Dr Mia Hobbs and Dr Paula Redmond
Do you find it easier to focus when your hands are busy?
Have you noticed that knitting or crochet can steady your mind — but you’re not quite sure why?
Knitting for attention and focus is an on-demand webinar exploring how knitting (and crochet) can support concentration, attention and mindful awareness, particularly for people who struggle with restlessness, distractibility or overwhelm.
In this session, we’ll explore:
what the research says about how knitting (and crochet) can support attention and focus
how knitting can be used as a tool in 4 key ways: as a coupled activity, to prime attention, to access cognitive rest, and to disrupt rumination
how you can apply this understanding in your everyday life
why knitting often appeals to ADHDers (as well as some of the challenges)
This webinar combines psychological theory, research evidence and personal experience, offering a thoughtful and compassionate look at how knitting and crochet can support the mind — without oversimplifying or making unrealistic claims.
Whether you knit, crochet, or are simply curious about the link between creativity and attention, this session offers insight, validation and practical reflections you can take into daily life.
